What is Semi-Private Training—and Why It Might Be Exactly What You Need
You may have heard us talk or post about “semi-private training” and you might be wondering, “what, exactly, is that?” Well, you’re not alone! In this post, we’ll go over exactly what semi-private training is, and what the benefits are!
If you've ever felt intimidated walking into a gym or unsure where to start on your fitness journey, you're not alone. At our private studio in Brentwood, we work with women every day who are busy, overwhelmed, or simply ready to take control of their health—but need the right kind of support to do it.
That’s where semi-private training comes in.
What is Semi-Private Training?
Semi-private training is a smart, empowering approach to fitness. It gives you the structure and personalization of one-on-one coaching with the energy and support of a small group. Typically, sessions include 2–8 clients working alongside a professional trainer. Each person follows a workout tailored to her own goals, fitness level, and needs.
It’s not a cookie-cutter class. It’s your plan, your pace, with your coach by your side. Our coaches tailor every single session to the needs and goals of the people in the session that day. So you know your needs are being met, progress is being made toward your personal goals, and you will never get bored with the new variations of workouts!
Why It Works—Even for Beginners
If you're new to working out (or just haven’t found something that sticks), semi-private training is an ideal way to ease in. You’ll never be thrown into a huge group or expected to “keep up.” You also won’t be alone in a huge gym full of complicated, complex heavy equipment that you have no idea how to use. Many women don’t feel very comfortable going to a big-box gym, full of mid-twenties gym bros and large equipment (if that DOES suit you, then do what works for you, girl! No judgement here!). We have heard so many tales of ladies joining a gym without set goals, without a defined plan and without an accountability partner. And most of the time, they end up using the treadmill a few times, then stop showing up altogether. Instead, with semi-private training, your trainer will coach you every step of the way—teaching proper form, building your confidence, and helping you stay consistent. They also discuss your goals and make plans to help you achieve them so you never have to worry about creating a workout plan for yourself.
The Top Benefits of Semi-Private Training
✅ Personal Attention: During each training session, your coach will tailor your specific weights and modify exercises for you, as needed, with focused coaching—just like private training, but in a small-group setting.
✅ Lower Cost: Because the session is shared, it’s more affordable than traditional personal training, making it easier to commit long-term. 1-on-1 personal training can cost anywhere from $50 to $100 or more depending on a variety of factors!
✅ Built-In Motivation: Training with others creates energy, accountability, and motivation that keeps you coming back for more. This is what makes training FUN!
✅ Supportive Community: You’re not just training—you’re connecting with women who are on a similar journey toward better health and wellness. This is our favorite part about semi-private training! Our coaches get to know each and every client and their personal journey! And our clients often befriend and support each other! We have clients who never knew each other before Break Free Fitness, but now they regularly go out for coffee together!
✅ Real Results: With consistency, guidance, and proper programming, you’ll see real progress—whether your goal is weight loss, strength, energy, or confidence. And the groups are small enough for anyone to ask questions to our trainers and benefit from their wealth of knowledge!
At Break Free Fitness, our mission is to help you feel strong, confident, and in control of your health—without the pressure of perfection.
